Armagh cricket professional Charrudatta Kulkarni receives a prestigious Ulster Bank award for scoring a     century in the NCU Senior League game against Saintfield in late June. He scored 112, but it wasn’t enough     to prevent his side losing by four wickets. Ulster Bank’s Regional Manager for Northern Ireland, Stephen     Cruise (left) and the President of the Northern Cricket Union, Ian Gourley made the presentation. The awards     go to players who score a century, take at least six wickets or perform a hat trick in the four sections of the     Ulster Bank NCU Senior League.

  •      City of Armagh Cricket Club are delighted to announce the arrival of our new professional Charudatta P Kulkarni. 'Charu' has experience of Northern Ireland conditions from playing in the North West back in 2005 when he was hugely successful with both bat and ball, coming second in the batting averages with a terrific 55.7 average. Charu hails from Pune, India and is a right-handed top order batsman and a bowler of fast-medium pace. Charudatta was sourced through Muckamore team professional Indrajeet Kamtekar as a replacement for Parag T Shahane who had to urgently return home in late April. Although he has missed two league games to date, the committee hope that Kulkarni will be able to make a big impact in the side, starting this weekend against Ballymena.

  •     Armagh Cricket Club can confirm that professional PT Shahane has returned home due to a serious    injury to his young son back in Pune, India. The club doesn’t believe that Parag will be returning, so the    committee is doing their utmost to source a suitable alternative. We wish Parag and his family all the best    in the meantime.

  •    As many expected this weeks games have fell fowl of the weather. After heavy rain all week there was no   other option but to call the 1sts match off. The 4ths was called off due to a bereavement at   the Downpatrick club. Lets hope The Mall will be available for next week.

Joe was one of the best umpires that Irish cricket has ever seen, umpiring in three Irish matches, against Holland in 1976, a one day match against India in 1982 and Scotland in 1983. Joe was also an Ex-President of the NCU. All at Armagh Cricket Club pass their condolences to his widow Mary and the rest of the family circle.
